What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is a Two-Step Process

Express Entry is a 100% electronic system created to process permanent resident applications under three different Canadian immigration programs:
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • The Canadian Experience Class
Applicants for permanent Canadian residency undergo a scoring process and enter the Entry Express pool. Canadian employers can then select successful candidates from this pool when looking to hire, providing a pathway for skilled individuals to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
To confirm eligibility for Canadian immigration programs, use the online tool “Come to Canada.” Input relevant details, receive eligibility results, and proceed with the Canadian residency application process accordingly. Here’s the process:
  • Create your MyCIC account and fill out your Express Entry profile.
  • Get ready before you fill out your profile. By this time, you must have at least all of the following documents with you:
    • Passport or travel document
    • National Occupational Classification (NOC) job title and code
    • Language abilities results
  • After creating your account, register with the Government of Canada’s Job Bank within 30 days.
If you are eligible for the Canada permanent resident visa, you will appear in the Express Entry pool of candidates and obtain a score. Getting a high score indicates you are more likely to be invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada. Also, you can update your profile if your situation changes.
