Refugee Program

Canada Refugee Program

Canada supports humanitarian and refugee cases after signing the Status of Refugees of the Geneva Convention in 1951. If an individual has a danger of persecution, cruel behavior, and loss of life when returning to his own country, they can apply for Canada refugee program.

Refugee Protection From Inside Canada

Resettlement from Outside Canada

Foreign nationals can apply for refugee protection from Canada if they fear facing the danger of persecution and threat when they go back to their own country.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Canada refugee program claims, you have to meet all the requirements and rules of the refugee board of Canada claims. After evaluating your refugee Canada application, the immigration experts will decide whether you are the right person to refer to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) or not. You will be eligible for refugee board of Canada protection if:
  • Not identified as a Convention refugee to another country.
  • Not received refugee Canada protection status.
  • Do not use the Canada-United States border to enter Canada.
  • Not have any prior criminal history.
  • Don’t have any past refugee claim, declined by the IRB, or determined not eligible.
  • Not under a removal order.
Resettlement is to bring refugees into Canada from outside the country. For the refugee claim, an individual can not apply directly rather than the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has referred to you, a private Canada immigration sponsorship group, or a designated referral organization. The above organizations will not refer you unless you belong to any of the below two refugee classes:

Convention refugee abroad class

Currently, if you are living outside of your home nation and you can’t return due to some well-grounded fears of persecution based on your race, religion, nationality, political views, or association in various social communities, you fall into this class. If you have sufficient money to support your family and yourself after arriving in Canada, you can still be a conventional refugee. As a convention refugee abroad class, you can be sponsored by:
  • Group of people or an organization.
  • The Canadian government.
  • A mix of both.

Country of asylum class

If you live outside of your home nation due to some civil wars or armed disputes in your home country or are denied primary human rights, you fall in this class. Even if you have enough funds to support yourself and your family after arriving in Canada, you still relate to this category. As a country of asylum refugees, you can personally be a sponsor.

Eligibility For Asylum Class

You will be eligible to make a Canada refugee program claim under the country of asylum class if:
  • You don’t have another solid resettlement proposal from another country.
  • You are not another country citizen that can protect you.
  • You will never return to your home country.
  • The reasons you moved from your country still exist.
